For over twenty-five years, James S. Wilkins has concentrated on all aspects of bankruptcy and business litigation.

From 1978 through 1986, James S. Wilkins was a collections attorney for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. From August 1986 through March 1993, Mr. Wilkins maintained his own law office as a solo practitioner with a heavy emphasis on bankruptcy and business litigation. In March 1993, the law firm of Jacobs, Willis & Wilkins, L.L.P. was formed and continued until August 1999. Thereafter, the law firm continued as Willis & Wilkins, L.L.P. to the present.

In July 2006, Willis & Wilkins, L.L.P. established an of counsel relationship with Barton, East & Caldwell, L.L.P.

Mr. Wilkins has extensively represented clients in all aspects of bankruptcy law. He has represented Creditors re: filing of claims, filing Motions to Lift Stay, Objections to Exemptions, Adversary Proceedings to Deny Discharge or to Determine Dischargeability of Debt and numerous other matters. He has extensively represented Debtors regarding Chapter 11 Reorganizations (Individual, Business and Corporate) and Chapter 7 Liquidation cases for all types of Debtors. Mr. Wilkins has represented Chapter 7 Trustees on numerous occasions in regards to preference claims and fraudulent transfer claims.

Mr. Wilkins has been a frequent speaker at bankruptcy continuing legal education seminars and various bar association meetings regarding bankruptcy law.
